Display of Tamper-Evident Decals on Chauffeured Private Hire Cars

Regardless of its use, Chauffeured Private Hire Cars must be affixed with and display tamper-evident decals on the front and rear windscreens of the vehicle, at all times. The decals are not transferrable across vehicles, and shall not be removed unless the vehicles are no longer chauffeured private hire cars. It will be an offence under the Road Traffic Act to:
(i)    Tamper with the decals, including reattaching the decals which have already been tampered with;
(ii)   Remove the decals when the vehicles are still registered as chauffeured private hire cars; or
(iii)  Provide, or permitting to be provided, chauffeured services with a tampered decals or without decals

Decals which are damaged shall be replaced at any Authorised Inspection Centre within 3 calendar days. 

Upon successful registration of Chauffeured Private Hire Cars, owners are required to affix with a pair of tamper-evident decals on the vehicle at any Authorised Inspection Centre within 3 calendar days. 

Owners who registered their chauffeured private hire cars after 28 February 2017 will have to affix the decals at Authorised Inspection Centres at their own cost.

Owners of chauffeured private hire cars registered or converted on or before 28 February 2017 will have the first pair of decals affixed at no cost.  Owners are required to present original copy of the LTA letter during the affixing.  The affixing of decals will commence from 17 April 2017 at Authorised Affixing Centres.

These tamper-evident decals will be a mandatory inspection item when the vehicle undergoes periodic inspection.  On top of the current vehicle inspection fee, vehicle owners will have to pay an additional inspection fee of $10.70 (including GST) for the decals.
