As at 1800 hours today, there was a new walk-in case at the National University Hospital (NUH) who has since returned home. Over at the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), there were five new walk-in cases. Three have been discharged, while two are still being treated. NTFGH also received another new case conveyed by ambulance who is also being treated. For more information, please refer to the attached joint statement.

There were 28 injuries in total, including three walk-ins at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital later in the afternoon. The Ministry of Transport, Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT are in touch with these injured passengers to offer the necessary assistance. This morning at 8.18am, a train heading in the direction of Tuas Link Station stalled at Joo Koon Station. At 8.19am, a second train stopped behind the first faulty train. At 8.20am, the second train moved forward unexpectedly, and came into contact with the first train. For more information, please refer to the attached joint statement.

The North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL) experienced intermittent traction power tripping this morning. The cause of the power trip was traced to a loosened service maintenance door next to the tracks in the tunnel near Tiong Bahru MRT station along the East-West Line (EWL). The temporary at-grade bypass road connecting vehicles from Upper Changi Road East to PIE (Changi) will open to traffic today at 12 noon, following the completion of a safety and design review. The at-grade temporary bypass road to connect vehicles from Upper Changi Road East to PIE (Changi) will open by Sunday, 16 July afternoon, instead of today. Due to the wet weather conditions, more time was needed to prepare the ground, before we are able to proceed with the paving of the temporary road surface. Recovery works for the affected slip-road from Upper Changi Road East to PIE (Changi) are estimated to take about two days, before it can be re-opened for traffic.
