The Land Transport Authority (LTA) supports the Interim Measures Directions issued by Competition & Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) to Grab and Uber. In particular, we note that the measures pertaining to the removal of exclusivity obligations and impediments to market contestability will further promote market competition in the point-to-point (P2P) transport sector. The team comprising engineers from the Land Transport Authority (LTA), SBS Transit, and the signalling system supplier Siemens has identified and rectified the signalling system fault which occurred yesterday at Bayfront Station on the Downtown Line (DTL), allowing normal train services to resume from the start of service hours this morning. The team traced the fault yesterday to a synchronisation issue between two sets of signalling equipment – the Temporary Speed Restriction Manager and the Trackside Automated Train Control System. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is deeply saddened by a fatal accident which took place this morning at 3:35am in a tunnel that connects to Lentor station, which is currently under construction for the Thomson–East Coast Line. The worker fell from a raised working platform in the tunnel and was unconscious after the fall. He was subsequently pronounced dead by paramedics at 4.30am. Train services on the Downtown Line (DTL) were affected by a signalling system fault at Bayfront station at 6.01am this morning (1 Mar 2018). As a result, trains approaching Bayfront station in both directions had to be driven manually and at a lower speed. By 7.30am, the signalling fault was isolated to the stretch from Promenade to Bayfront stations in the direction of Expo. For more information, please refer to the attached joint statement.

As at 1800 hours today, there was a new walk-in case at the National University Hospital (NUH) who has since returned home. Over at the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), there were five new walk-in cases. Three have been discharged, while two are still being treated. NTFGH also received another new case conveyed by ambulance who is also being treated. For more information, please refer to the attached joint statement.
